A Piece of the Puzzle

If you haven’t bought “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young, Stop reading right now and go and buy it…  Okay now that you have it… Today’s talked about “You need not fear the future, for I am already there.” He has our future in His hand and is in complete control.
I was reminded today, while I was completing puzzles with the neighborhood children, that when we look at all the mixed up pieces we can get overwhelmed about not knowing where to start or what piece is next. We can start today by moving step by step or when working on a puzzle putting piece by piece together. No need to be overwhelmed, just relax and enjoy each piece God gives.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  Matthew 6:34

Laughter and Rain… 9.26.12

Those of you who know me know how much I love to laugh… :) and maybe snort too! Today day has been a great day of laughing. May the showers of laughing rain down on you.
I LOVE rain here in Leticia! Most days are very hot and humid, almost unbearably humid. Today has been a wonderful day of rain. It was VERY overcast this morning and then this afternoon we have had showers. Me gusta la lluvia! (I like the rain!) Never have I been one who loves when it rains, it normally makes me sad, but here you see how much you need it. You need it to cool you off, to help the plants, and so much more.
I was able to see laughter today because of the rain. When I arrived home, there were 6 soaking wet, giggle girls waiting to come to our apartment. My roommates help neighborhood children with homework and do Bible studies with them as well. Today, because of the rain, my roommates were running late and when I arrived home all the girls were waiting to get in. We laughed and played games and were thankful for the cool breeze blowing.
I also was able to laugh with friends from home tonight! I love to laugh and am thankful for friends God has placed in my life that is a reminder to me to laugh OR snort! ;) Laughter is the best medicine!

Why worry about tomorrow? 9.22.12

Why worry about tomorrow?
This morning I was reminding in my quiet time “Trust me and refuse to worry, for I am your Strength and Song.”  Jesus Calling by Sarah Young
Exodus 15:2 says, “The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.”
So many times I begin to worry about what tomorrow will bring. I stress over little things that I have no control over. God has the plans and is in control and will direct my steps and my paths. My job is not to worry about what will come or how it will come. My job is to trust in the One who do know! May we each rest in him today and know that HE holds the future, not us!

Dame tus ojos quiero ver (Give me your eyes so I can see) 9.15.12

Dame tus ojos quiero ver
(Give me your eyes so I can see) 9.15.12

Today, I was reading one of the many letters I was given as I left the states. The scripture for today was Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him m who have been called according to his purpose.” Many days I pray this verse; I will have the eyes of Christ and love and follow His will as He places it in front of me. I know that He will work all things together for His good purpose.
We must fix our eyes on Him and His Word, so that we may see what He sees and do His will, not ours.
I have the great pleasure of going on the River and sharing God’s Word with people. May I have His eyes to see them as He sees each and every one. May I go in His name and speak His truth.
So thankful for the family and friends (that are family) that God has blessed me with. Each one means so much and encourages me. What a blessing it is to have so many who show me God’s love by being in my life and teaching me to see His truth and His ways.

let the little children come to me...

Let the little children come to me...

September 2, 12

Today I was reminded about the passage from Matthew 19:13-15

“Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away.”

On Sundays in Leticia, many of the roads are completely closed off. Cones are put out and guards are stationed that only allow you to pass if you live there and are headed home. At first I thought, it was kind of crazy. “Why would you completely close off an entire road?!?”  Then moments later I realized they closed them off so that the children could have somewhere to play. Tons, and tons of children were out on bikes, with kites or just walking up in down the street with balls or toys. So many times we get in a rush not just with children, but also with the rush of life and forget to go to Jesus. Not all of these children know Jesus, but it was a great image and reminder to me to stop and go to Him. Forget about the busyness of life and truly rest in Jesus’ hands.

Perhaps we all need to take time, like the children, forget about the tasks of life and go directly to our Father and rest in His hands.

You word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105

So thankful to have something that can guide each step and give direction to each path. When we spend time with Him, he reveals his path and direction for our lives. Praying you each will seek out time to spend with the Heavenly Father. We can trust that our time with Him will not be wasted, rather that we will have eyes that are open to what He is doing and how he is working.

Last week was very busy with changing from Bogota to Leticia and getting situated, but as I continue to seek him I find that he is right there with me. He is NOT some far off being, but He is in every footstep. Excited to see how God will continue to use me while I am here in Leticia.
